For those who would like improved results, the next step up from cosmetic dermal rolling is in-clinic micro-needling. This does not rely on increased nourishment alone to get results, but also on the natural healing process that occurs from micro-injuries to the skin.

With micro-needling we can stimulate cells at a depth of 1mm. This is deep enough to trigger the growth factor cascade, but shallow enough to minimize recovery time and discomfort. It results in natural collagen production and does not have the risk of pigment changes with sun exposure after treatment, thus making it ideal for those who have darker skins, where laser treatments may be contra-indicated. With Cosmetic Dermal Rolling one should only use .2 – .3mm needle length rollers.

Side Effects

• Reddening of the skin which should subside in 2-4 days.
• Mild swelling initially. This usually subsides in a day or two.

Prior to Treatment:

Prior to the your micro-needling treatment at our Vernon spa, please observe the following:

• No Retin-A products or applications 12 hours prior to your treatment.
• No prolonged sun exposure to the face 24 hours prior to your treatment. A Micro-Needling treatment will not be administered on sunburned skin.
• On the day of the treatment, please keep your face clean and do not apply makeup.
• If an active or extreme acne breakout occurs before treatment, please consult your practitioner.

What Can Be Expected:

After your Micro-Needling treatment, please be aware and observe the following:

• Immediately after, you will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This is normal and will subside after 1 to 2 hours and will normally recover within the same day or 24 hours. You may see slight redness after 24 hours but only in minimal areas or spots.
• Your practitioner will recommend post-procedure skincare after the procedure to help soothe, calm and protect the skin. Continue to use for 3 days. Active skincare (Retinol, Vitamin C, etc) can be resumed again after Day 3.

What to Avoid:

To ensure the proper healing environment, be certain to observe the following:

• For at least 2 weeks post treatment, do not use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Alcohol-based toners
• Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for 24 hours. No tanning beds.
• Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
• No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment.
• We will provide you with complete and clear aftercare instructions at your appointment.
